Border Roads Organisation was established on 07 May 1960. BRO is responsible for the development and maintenance of road networks in India's border areas as well in neighboring countries. It's headquarters was located at New Delhi and it provides its services across India, Bhutan, Nepal, Myanmar and Afghanistan. As an multilateral, multinational construction company, it functions to carry out the needs of armed forces.

It constructs roads and involves in bridging, tunneling etc. It plays a major role in the socio economic development through its contribution to infrastructure development. BRO functions and maintains over 32,885 kilometers of roads and about 12,200 meters of bridges throughout the country. BRO is responsible for the establishment of Roads, Bridges, Tunnels, Causeways, Helipads and Airfields.

BRO comprises of 18 projects and are divided into Task Forces, Road Construction Companies, Bridge Construction Companies, Drain Maintenance Companies and Platoons. It also deals with the maintenance of its road networks and it clears up the blockage caused by landslides, avalanches and snowfall. The organization also has base workshops, store divisions, training, recruitment centers etc.

It is currently recruiting eligible employees for the posts of DVRMT (OG), Electrician, Vehicle Mechanic, Multi Skilled Worker (Cook) and other posts. Candidates must fulfill the physical standards, Medical standards, educational/ technical criteria, experience, age and other criteria to apply for these jobs.
