About BPSC

A separate Public Service Commission for Bihar state was established in 1949. The Bihar Public Service Commission functions from its headquarters located in Patna. The commission owes to recruit the suitable personnel for various civil posts in the Bihar state through the mode of direct interview or competitive examination. It also assists the state government in all matters relating to the civil service employees. BPSC conducts competitive exam that comprises preliminary exam, main examination and interview. So far, BPSC had conducted 63 Combined Competitive Exams. For some posts, there is only interview or only one exam followed by an interview. However, it differs according to the post and the decision lies with the commission.

The Bihar CCE is conducted for engineering and agricultural posts. The exam has questions on Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics and Agriculture. There is negative marking in CCE. BPSC also conducts judicial examination separately to appoint judges and juries in the district courts of Bihar. Bihar Judicial Service Exam has five compulsory papers and three optional papers. The exams are conducted offline. The written exam will be followed by an interview.
